Flowery Military Jacket

Added Mar 27, 2011

by Ulrika Grevin

Stockholm, Sweden

The spring of 2011 the Army Jacket came out strong. It was available with most of the high street chains as well as top designer fashion. My take on this classic garment comes with a twist and is the Army Jacket I could find nowhere to buy.

Material Notes

I’ve used a BurdaStyle pattern but have modified the collar for a traditional look. 100% cotton Furnishing Fabric from Tygverket. Lining in Polyester. Snap buttons.

I just bought this pattern and the instructions I downloaded have seam allowance of 5/8" but the description for the pattern says NO SEAM ALLOWANCE INCLUDED. So which is it? do I add a seam allowance? and what does EASE IN the shoulder sleeve mean? I have never heard of that term? help anyone :( -Laura

This is almost exactly what i’m looking for (not the pattern), It’s a good unisex design like most military items. The problem is I need to make it in about size 56 but the pattern only goes up to 40. How can I alter the size?

Oh. I’m afraid that’s beyond my size modifying skills. I guess Burda could pick it up and provide a +plus version of the pattern. You go!

I like it. It’s a different take on the popular military styles we’ve been seeing everywhere. The yellow lining is great too. Well done!
