Description

I’m so excited to show you this one!! It is my first lined coat, and I think it turned out awesome. The pattern offered both long and short versions, but being only 5 feet tall, I decided to go for the short version. It is a princess seamed coat with a LOT of flare; after making a muslin I decided to severely de-flare it especially at the back. I also shortened the bodice by a few inches, but those were the only modifications. Given that I’m a novice sewer, I think the pattern was very easy to follow. I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to work with wool coating. I had no problems with sewing the bulk on my Brother Innovis machine.

Let me know what you think of this creation!!

Material Notes

I used McCalls pattern M6800. The beautiful purple wool/cashmere and iridescent buttons are from Darrell Thomas Textiles.

I used a flannel back lining to add some warmth (Ottawa winters are extremely cold!) and it works extremely well.
