Flannel Pants for two tall and skinny sons

Added Jan 20, 2011

by Gabriele Yor...

West Palm Beach,...

My Boys are both Tall and very thin. My older son has a 28 waist and a 36 inseam…a near impossible size to find. This year for Christmas I made matching Flannel Pants. I took an ordinary pants pattern and chose a size that fit their hips/waist and added length to the top, at the waist, and the bottom at the hem. This is the absolute best part of sewing your own clothes THEY FIT.

Material Notes

Heavy Weight Flannel

Garment Type
Cotton, Flannel

xD That’s my friend’s problem, he buys super expensive pants because he has long legs and a little waist.

yes, I agree it can be expensive to find skinny jeans, etc. especially when they want a certain brand. My older son has started asking me to make things.

I did the exact same for my kids for Christmas too!!! I can commiserate with your son, I have nearly the same measurements (28.5 × 35) and trying to find clothes that fit IS impossible. It is why I sew so very much, otherwise I would have to live in skirts because pants are NEVER long enough.

I am curvy with a small waist. Also a hard size to find. The waist is never small enough, but I know what you mean. you can’t add length to pants.
