Elphaba (Wicked - The Musical)

Added Jun 22, 2009

by edestra

Root, Switzerland

I’d made this costume, because I loved the Wizard of Oz since I was a child. Always fascinated of the Wicked Witch of the west.
Then came the musical Wicked and the Wicked Witch gets the name Elphaba.
And the costume is so stunic so I wanted to do it… and: here it is…

Material Notes

All different materials and shades I’ve found, in black or dark colors…

I am going to try to make one of these dresses for the makerfair! How long did it take you to make?

Sorry I was away for 6 months and couldn’t enter the page.

I made the pattern myself and I have to say there is no paper pattern to show. But if you guys are interested in doing an Elphaba Act II yourself, have a look at this page:

    It will help a lot!

    All the best, Edestra

Oh and it took me about 60 hours to do.

Hi and let me just say WOW! I love your dress. It would be awesome if you could post the pattern for it. How long did it take you to make?

Amazing!! I’m a bit Wicked obsessed, and have been considering trying this myself. You did an incredibly good job, really very similar to the stage costume, I’m super impressed! :)

Wow, this looks really fantastic. I must have been so much work with all these different fabrics in the skirt and bodice. I could never find that much patience to do such thing.

Thank you… I just upload a picture you can see the shoes. They’re not original, but have a real nice look I think.

At time I’m working on the Glinda Bubble Dress and the Ruby Slippers (Wizzard of Oz)…

The costume is original and it is meticulously made! And the witchy look you give us from the third photo is really “gives me the chills” one :) Very effective indeed.

Pity we don’t get to see the shoes … Are they authentic too?
