Elisalex peplum top hack

This is my attempt to turn the Elisalex dress pattern by BHL into a peplum top for fancy nights out. The bodice was not quite right on my body, so I had to add about 10cm of length for it to come to my natural waist and had to do a full bust adjustment, which might still need some work. I had to enlarge the shoulder cap as well as the sleeves were just too tight and restrictive on the top of the shoulder. The bodice though looks like it is too long between the shoulder and the bust, I might have to take some length out so it sits more snug over the shoulders.

This design was inspired by Chinelo from the great british sewing bee competition, I loved all her designs and thought I would try out a peplum like she made them.

I made it in a really nice medium weight wool mix, and lined it in cotton to protect my skin from the itchy wool. To secure the lining I stiched close to the seam at the waist, and on the side seams.

I can’t wait to wear it out, probably with a pencil skirt and high heels :)

I know, when the pattern is not fitted right, it could be a lot of challenges.. That’s why I like Burda patterns, it’s perfect for me. Normally you can see the measurement at the beginning of the instructions, but I’m sure you have seen it..
