This is really great! Did you use basically the Shingo Sato technique? I tested it out on a dress a while back, but one or two of my pieces could have had a better grainline alignment as I didn’t like how a part of it bunched on my dress.

I love your color usage on this dress!

Thank you, that’s so kind! And I have to confess that the colours were a bit random, as we got the fabrics for this project from our teachers. I decided to go for as many different colours as I could (and I obviously decided the placement of each fabric) within the pattern I made just to see the effect. Glad you liked it :)

If by Shingo Sato Technique, you mean draping the basic pattern on a dress form, marking lines and cutting out my pattern, then no. Some of the people in my class attempted this, though I only worked on a quarter-size pattern to see where I should put my lines, then drafted the pattern by altering my basic pattern as described in my answer to caymango’s question below.
Let me know if you have further questions!

This is really quite something! I can only imagine the amount of hard work that went into this dress. Fabulous job!

Thank you! Making the pattern was the hardest bit, sewing it together wasn’t really that much work in the end.
