Most of the outfits I make have subtle alterations. Wanting to switch gears, I had to do something funky for my next outfit.

The following was done:

-Traced the bodice from a strapless top I own, added an inch for seam allowance all around

- Simplicity 1355 pant bottoms were used but with these additions:
I added a triangle to the outer sides of the pants, both front and back. I can’t recall how long in inches the tip of the triangle went out past the original Simplicity pant pattern. The tip (RED DOT on image) went to the salvage/fold of the fabric. However wide the fabric was, is where the tip of the triangle stopped.

-added two center pleats in the front and back of pants to fit to the bodice

Sewed the pants, then attached to the bodice. No elastic was added to the waist.

LOVE what you did! I can’t quite visualize where the triangles go . . . is the base of each triangle at the side seam allowance – tapering towards the waistline and the hemline? Did you narrow the leg opening at the ankle? I bet many would like a tutorial…..hint, hint!

Hi Tess! (cute name). I drew a diagram on the blog..www.3degreesdb.com. The tip of the triangle is at the hip and I narrowed or graded the triangle in with the leg, towards the knee.
