Dart Dress!

I found this to be a cute wiggle dress pattern that fits me well, sans some alterations I need to do on the shoulders. It made a great tiki party dress at Star Wars Celebration, and, doubled as a homecoming dress for when my husband came home from deployment. My first version, the Sailor Moon dress, has the darts out, but I found it has a more polished look when you put the darts to the inside. Still a fun pattern that is very easy to make! I’m actually planning more versions.

Material Notes

You need some fabric with a touch of oomph. The broadcloth of the Sailor Moon dress was a bit flimsy for this. The Star Wars Tiki dress, and Submarine dress, are Spoonflower’s sateen offering. Mind the facings on the sleeves and neckline. A few extra tacks won’t hurt, since mine kept wanting to pop out.

You’re my kind of gal! LOVE the dresses and the prints you chose, they all look FABULOUS!

At first I thought you did a self-same belt with contrast piping for the Sailor Moon print dress and I was like (nuh-uh! tacky!) and then I realized from the other photos is was a clear belt and I went (holy cow!), because while the look is similar, the clear belt is just so much cooler but I can’t for the life of me figure out why XD Not tacky at all…..

I find the neckline dart really interesting, care to share what the pattern was?

It’s the Dart Dress pattern available here on Burdastyle. The page should link on the right side. And yeah, no self-belt! I just love that clear one and thought it was a fun touch for the pics.
