Custom painted t-shirts

Tacoma, Washingt...

These t-shirts were a Christmas present for my boyfriend. I wanted to make him something, but all he wears is t-shirts and jeans, so I felt that I couldn’t really sew him anything. I decided to create my own stencils using unique designs that were special to him.

One of the designs comes from a picture of him snowboarding on a cone-shaped feature. The other is intended to be Snake Eyes from GI Joe. My boyfriend watched GI Joe when he was young, and Snake Eyes was his favorite. For the recent GI Joe movie that came out, my boyfriend (a prop maker) made a weapon for Snake Eyes. This t-shirt features the weapon he made on the back, and the special symbol that Snake Eyes wears on the sleeve.

I plan to make a how-to for making fabric stencils to be uploaded in the near future!

Material Notes

I love how personal these are. It’s amazing that you’ve taken an actual photo and transferred it to the tshirt. It’s just the sort of thing I wanted to do for my boyfriend [although there would have been a lot more cartoon characters on his!] but once again, I’ve left Christmas to the last minute. Oh well, maybe next year with the help of your how-to!
