Curtain chic blouse

I made this blouse out of a quilting weight cotton using the Sencha pattern from Colette Patterns. The pattern instructions were very easy to follow and the sturdiness of the fabric made it very easy for a beginner to sew. To be honest though, even though I love the style and think it’s pretty to look at on the hanger, I made it about a month ago and haven’t worn it yet – I’m worried it looks a bit too much like a curtain! Next time I make the pattern I’ll use a lighter, floatier fabric and will take it in more at the back. More pics on my blog.

I discovered this “treasure” while looking at your Autumn Maples Jenny Skirt. Curtain or no curtain I would definitely wear it with a black pencil skirt at work for a Joan Harris look. After all the ’10 and ’11, fashiowise, are in a Mad Men mood

Very lovely, and I agree about it looking great with your coloring and hair. I can see the curtain reference, but it doesn’t look like one on you.

You look absolutely adorable in this blouse. I don’t think that it resembles a curtain either! I love that neck line. Very cool looking dart lines.

this is lovely and classic and suits you well…but sometimes we make stuff that for whatever reason we just dont like on ourselves …just treat it like a very pretty muslin and buy fabric you like because the style is a fab fit on you…and your next version will be splendipourous :)

I love this version of the sencha pattern with the darts around the neck line! Looks like it works well with a stiff fabric. – You have to wear it, the colours look great on you.

it doesn’t look at all like a curtain! it looks fabulous, and the style looks great on you too. upholstery fabrics are great for making clothing – it tends to be a bit sturdier, and comes in a longer width :)
