Description

This jacket is based on a pattern from Burda Easy Fashion Fall/Winter 2014. I like these patterns because it so easy when you can cut it out without drawing it first.. I thought this pattern was very interesting, and I’ve used Lurex knitted fabric (20% wool), and it’s very light and warm at the same time.
Since the fabric had silver tread on the back side I decided to use the seams on the outside, so it’s like a decoration :) I have used faux leather around the neck, hem and sleeve hem. This is also very soft and has cotton on the inside.
The T-shirt is based on a pattern from a Scandinavian sewing magazine 06.2011 – and is one of my favorite patterns. I’ve used navy jersey with “waterfall effect” and it’s very soft and delicious. I inserted a small piece of black net jersey on the shoulders in the back, and I also used this around the neck and the sleeve hem.

Material Notes

Lurex knittet fabric and faux leather for the jacket,
and jersey with “waterfall effect” and net jersey for the T-shirt.

Hey Ellen! I think the jacket is stunning! As you know, I have made a dress, using the same pattern. Please tell me, did you also find the pattern abnormally wide? I really struggled with my simple dress, because the pattern seemed to be at least 2 sizes too large! I would love to make the jacket as well, but I am scared of the pattern now :(

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.. For me it was the same size as I always use, but maybe it’s because you have used stretch jersey. For my top I’ve used cotton, but I love jersey and I love your dress so I thought it was a great idea of using jersey! For the jacket the pattern was perfect :) I will post my top later.. Cheers!

Great job indeed! Now when I look through all the things you, girls, made while I’m out of sewing, I understand how I miss all these! The jacket is wonderful. I didn’t see it in the magazine but your choice of fabric is excellent. The zipper is both functional and decorative detail here. The item looks like a real brand and trendy thing. I guess I should say nothing about the top because I think you can make a great top of any fabric you ever touch:-)))

Yes, I’m joining the member chorus on the two awesome fabrics you used for your projects! Thanks for providing the fabric source link (nice to look around the store). Ellen, please try making something in brown tones! You seem to like black and blue colours but brown would be great too! Orange if you feel daring -

Thanks for your kind words! My favorite color is orange.., but I have to tell you that the prize I got for the “slooper design contest” was a brown soft cotton fabric with gold deers, so I have to make a brown dress ;-))

Great fabric choice for both. I especially like the jacket because it’s fashionable and trendy, but age appropriate for both younger women and mature women as well. Love the belt too !

This blue waterfall jersey, where did you get it from? This is awesome. Love your creations very much. (especially this jersey! Is it also from Jerseyfashion.nl?)
