Step 1 Prepare the pattern

Assemble the pattern and cut the pattern-pieces. If you like, add desired amount of seam-allowance before cutting the pattern. I add 0,5cm when I sew in knits, since I use a simple overlock-stitch on my ordinary sewing-machine, and the seam is about 0,5cm wide.

I’m new to sewing, just a new weeks, but very keen and have already made a lot of great projects. I’m all ready to make this dress, the pattern is ready. But I’m more curvy than the slender designer and need to increase the size to a 36 inch bust, 38 inch hip. I’ve read the resources on this site and they show how to increase patterns that already have several sizes shown for guidance – simply follow the same increase.

If I just add some increase straight down the centre of the dress pattern I think all I will do is add space between the shoulders and end up with a wide neck and shoulders too wide but I really need the neck and shoulders the same probably and increase around bust and hips.

I can see lots of completed dresses out there – I know lots of you must have done this. Can I have some clues? Has anyone done this and has an adjusted pattern out there anywhere? I have some lovely fabric and really don’t want to mess this up!
