Convertible Outdoor Pants

I was looking for comfortable zip-off hiking pants for a long time and could not find any that fits me. The few I found in my size zips off just above the knees which defeats the purpose of zip-off pants when you want them to convert to shorts. I gave up and decided I would try making my own. I found a luxurious spandex mix fabric that was the perfect material. The fabric is stretchy so an elastic waistband was sufficient. The pants are so comfortable I they’re like pajamas and my go-to pair of pants when I travel or go camping. Worn here with a red polyester/spandex top I made for dancing. Impressed by these trousers/shorts! What a great idea and how clever of you to put it all together.

Thanks! Also a great alternative to paying $100+ for pants that don’t fit :)

That’s great! I feel your pain since I’m short too. I hate the zip offs at the knee.

Thanks! Yeah, I guess on normal-height people the zip-off is somewhere at mid-thigh :)

These look great. I haven’t seen zip off pants in years. Less to pack for camping too. What pattern did you use?

Thanks! Lol, standard patterns don’t fit me so I always make my own. However I’m sure you can use any pant patterns and just add the zip-off legs.

Thanks! I had put these pants to the test by hiking up a mountain with my photographer friends – that’s why my hair is a mess ;)
