Connys bathrobe

Added Aug 8, 2011

by Ralf Schmitz

Berlin, Germany

A friend of mine always wanted a bathrobe, that would look more like a dress or a real coat rather than those “wrapearoundthings”. so we decided to use the wintercoat pattern of burda november 2010 (german issue) model number 127 in size 21.

I used a very thick terrycloth material and added vintage buttons and her monogram in it. the pattern is very easy and well explained, and aside of a few alternations for a better fit, i did not need to do anything, but following the instructions.

of the remaining material, i even managed to make her an extra towel with her monogram as well.

hope you like the results!

Material Notes

darkred cotton terrycloth, vintage buttons, embroidery floth

Just by looking at it I feel I could sink into the plushiness of the fabric. Ingenious idea to make a robe that doesn’t really look like a robe. Beautiful work! Love the color!

The most amazing bathrobe ever! Connie has fantastic vision as you have boundless talent, Ralf! It looks so snuggly. Could do with getting in it now… bit chilly here this morning! And that monogram! It cinches the deal of handmade over homemade! So glad to have you back Ralf x

thank you janene! we both loved the idea to make something more “dressed up” than just an ordinary bathrobe and we both like the result very much….. as i said, the pattern is really lovely, and we might do the whole thing again in a lovely wool with a nice lining for the upcoming autumn……
