Committee Meeting Dress

Massachusetts, U...

My coffee date dress for my committee meeting.

I had to make a lot of alterations to this dress. I added back darts in the skirt because my back “arches,” and I raised the waist a little bit. I didn’t mess with the size of the waist because I match the burdastyle size chart proportions (bust:waist:hips) almost exactly, so even though the waist seemed a bit big, I thought maybe it would fall weird and require a lot of ease or something. Big mistake! I ended up having to take the waist in at the sides a lot, but it is still a little big. The darts won’t line up right if I take it in anymore at the sides—I really need to take it in at the center front. Did anyone else have this problem?

The bodice itself fits really really well. Also, the belt is from H&M.

Ooooo I love your version, very tasteful colour choice and was even more excited when I saw the western blots on your presentation, a fellow researcher : ) Funny because I’m going to attempt this dress for professional looking work wear also, a nice change from lab appropriate attire!! See not all us bio nerds are daggy : P

this turned out really well! the pictures were really cute, too. i had similar issues with the back of the bodice, but don’t really know what happened. however, i found a friend on whom it seems to fit well instead, so it’s not a total loss :) glad you were able to make yours work.

It looks adorable, from the pictures none of the Problems you had are visible. I guess nobody paid too close attention to the lecture you gave at the last pic, rigtht? More attention to the dress.

haha, it was a very staged picture before the actual talk…. kinda awkward because my boss walked in while we were taking it, though.
