Thanks ladies!! The only note I have to make on this dress is that I will increase the arm hole size some what next time, perhaps by 2cm just to give my arms more room to move. I wear these to death and plan on making a couple more using the base pattern and embellishing in my own style, perhaps a lace overlay on the bodice or something a bit vintagey.

    Have fun!

Hi Jessica. These are lovely and they do indeed fit you perfectly! Can I just ask about the waistband on the grey one?…. did you just cut a strip of fabric to fit? I noticed others including a waistband but can’t find instructions. I didn’t include one the one I made but I think it makes the shape a whole lot better and I’d like to try another one with a waistband. Thank you… and welcome to a great site! :-)

Hi Janene, thanks so much, the waist band idea came from this site she’s amazing and before you take on the dress I suggest checking it out: http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/search?label=coffee%20date

the instructions for the ‘sash’ say to fold it down but I found with the semi-circle skirt it made the top of the skirt pucker a lot, so I opted to fold it up where it sat flat across my ribs, it is very high but I like to wear thick belts over the top. I suggest pinning in both positions before sewing in the zip to see what suits your fabric and body type best, good luck!!
