As promised, I’ve finally finished making the multi-sized Coffee Date Dress Pattern! It’s available now in sizes 34-42. Here’s a sample I made to test the fit of the size 36, in lightweight grey-blue pique with an olive green velvet ribbon to hold it in place on my size 32 mannequin. I’m going to post better photos and the other samples soon. Hope you enjoy the pattern- if you make your own, please post it to BurdaStyle for everyone (and me!) to see!

Material Notes

lightweight grey-blue pique, probably synthetic, another $1.29 find on the bargain table :)

Garment Type
Casual, Classic, Romantic

JJ for the her multi-sized sloper, Dan for scanning

Hi: The instructions disappeared when BurdaStyle relaunched its website and it’s not letting me re-add them. You can download instructions for the size 32 petite here:

or for the sizes 34-42 here:

Good luck and let me know how it comes out!

I’m new to using at-home print out patterns. Does anyone have tips on cutting layout? When you piece the printed out pages together is that the layout to use (fold wouldn’t be in same place)? It didn’t match my fabric size. So I just cut out the pattern pieces as conservatively as possible, but ran out of fabric for the ruffle! I’m making a 40.

I’m confused about this too- did you/anyone else ever find an answer about the cutting layout?

Hello all you lovely people who have sewn up this pattern — can anyone tell me what the finished bust/waist dimensions are for the 40 or 42 sizes? Also, has anyone tried to do a full bust alteration on this pattern?

this pattern directs the user to a how-to from burda which doesn’t appear to be online at the moment (because of the new website?). I found this one that might help people out: http://www.isew.co.uk/designer_techniques/all_in_one_facing-c-00366.htm

I’ve been thinking about making this for ages, except I’d need to try and grade it up and I’m not sure how to go about it! Does it have many pieces? I’ve never graded anything before but I guess it can’t be too hard? Just move the pattern lines out up to my size? I think I’m going to give it a go!

Ok, I’m on my third coffee date dress and I think I may be addicted! I made the first out of an old sheet as a trial-run, and now I’m using gorgeous blue fabric and it’s going really well! Thank you so much for sharing this pattern with all of us, it’s awesome and very easy!

Hi! I want to make the dress, but it doesn’t give any info on amount of material, or any instructions, do you have them that you could email me? That would be great, my email address is tovah.massage@gmail.com

      Thanks so much!

I’m eager to make this dress but I can’t find anything on this page that says how much fabric I’ll need. Can anyone give me an estimate? I’m making a size 40.

Are there instructions available for how to put the dress together? I see the pattern but not any sewing instructions…Is the pattern self-explanatory? I’m a novice sewer.

Wonderful! I made this last evening and I am very happy with my results! Your pattern was easy and fit well for me(size 40). I did change abit though, I added a waist section(2 inches) and a ruffle on the bottom hem rather than at the neck…I will post pics very soon(camera coming:) Thanks again! P.S. Perfect name for it too!
