Coffee Date Dress for the office

Added Feb 14, 2010

by mini27

Hervey Bay, Qld,...

This is my first Coffee Date Dress (and my first Burdastyle project), and I’m pretty happy with it. I didn’t strictly follow elaine may’s pattern; rather I drafted my own bodice then incorporated her design elements. Also I made a couple of slight changes because I want to wear it to the office.

Material Notes

Black cotton linen blend, red polycotton bias binding, lined skirt.

Garment Type
Business, Classic

Thanks for your comment on my tea top! This is a very nice dress, I really like the contrast black/red And you can wear it anytime (when the weather is fine)

It’s great!!! Love the red binding – really makes the ruffle pop!!! I did the same thing on my coffee date (with a cherry on top!) I love the black though…. oh no I feel another coffee date on my sewing machine in the near future.

Hey thanks, yeah I saw your cherry on top, it is great too. I wanted to keep mine to plain colours for the office, but also wanted just a little bit of a zing.
