Description

My New Years Resolution this year was to learn to sew from patterns. This is my third project this month, and my favorite, because I can’t wait to wear it! I chose it because I loved the style and there was a video that I could follow along with. The video was really helpful and I didn’t need to read the printed instructions at all.

The chiffon was very hard to work with, but I used some stiffener and starch along the way on the smaller facings and loop. I don’t have a serger, so I put a zigzag on all the edges. I wish I had made the bias strip for the neck wider than the pattern because of the fabric and zigzag.

In the video she does not add the elastic to the sleeve. I compared both ways, by basting in the option for elastic on the sleeve, but choose not to do it, as I liked the sleeves straight. However I had to take in width of them a bit to compensate (picture of new seam before trimming it…)

I would love to make another one and alter the pattern to make a longer neck ruffle or extra ruffle layers and put the slit facing the back.

Happy to be learning!!
