Durban, South Af...

this is another in the range of little skirts for little punk girls. again, this is a very short skirt, coming to just above mid-thigh, and it is based on a fitted design. while the fabric itself is fabulous, and brings images of lolita to mind, a plain fitted mini just seemed too boring. i put a yoke in at the back, and the sewed in two box pleats, with bows at the top each – this is a reference to suspender belts and stockings, while giving a little bit of room in the back.

Material Notes

this is a pure cotton, and as such creases like the blazes. wonderful fabric though, and a pleasure to work with.

Goth/Gothic Lolita, Punk

thanks everyone, wonderful to get feedback. yes, the fabric is wonderful, and is a lovely cotton too, so winner all the way. they also had a white background with this print, but it seems to be sold out everywhere. would have made the cutest strapless summer dress :)

LOVE the fabric (I’m currently having a retro print especially cherries and polka dots fetish) And I think the idea of the bows is fabulous…is it just me, or do they seem to be in a slightly awkward place? i’m just thinking a little lower would be better, but it’s kinda hard to tell on the dress form, and that’s just me :) very cute skirt, great job!

i LOVE polka dots, circles make me happy. re the bows, i hear you, trying to find the right place was hard – at the moment, they should sit mid-way on the bum, which emphasises the bum. it is a soft ribbon, so not hard to sit on, and irons smooth easily. i may make this skirt longer in future, and will play around with the position of the bows. thanks so much for the feedback :)

Really very cute. I could see making this as a playful reconstruction of a more conservative office pencil skirt by simply lengthening it to knee length.
