Cheongsam-Inspired Dress

This is a blue neoprene dress I made for my Uncle’s wedding. I altered the Burda pattern to make an invisible zip of 60cm and a pencil skirt with no vent.
The funny man in the picture (my father) thought I looked like a blue Cathay Pacific air hostess; so that’s me holding an invisible tray wishing invisible passengers a safe flight. :))
Burda instructions weren’t always clear. I didn’t use the snap fasteners in the end, which I suppose were for the front overlapping bit. Instead, I sewed both of them together. I also used an invisible zipper instead of a visible one just to keep things more classy and wedding-appropriate.
I danced all night in this dress!!

Material Notes

Neoprene Fabric (stretch)
Invisible zipper (60cm)
I didn’t need the snap fasteners unlike it says in the instructions

Hi, you made a very nice dress, well done! I’m making the same dress now, and the instructions are not clear for me either. How did you do the edges of the neck and slevees so there’s no visibile stitches? and How did you attach the overlapping neck in the front? I would be really greatfully if you could help me out! :)

I remember the pattern but I have never thought of the result like yours. The blue colour looks rich and powerful. The dress suits you very well.
