Capsleeve or balloonsleeve?

Added Feb 16, 2011

by groovymama

Hobro, Denmark

Decisons, decisions. Couldn’t decide if I wanted to make a capsleeve dress or a balloonsleeve dress (don’t know if that is the correct term for this kind of sleeve, but that is what I call it :-) – so I made both!! Zips in back.

Material Notes

Chambray, vintage fabric, piping, zippers

Both are lovely! You should start thinking about opening your own boutique! You’re very talented and creative with colors and prints,

Thanks :-). Believe me, I’ve been thinking about opening a boutique for sooooo long – I’m just to scared to take the final step. I do sell some of my designs from time to time. In fact, these 2 dresses are for sale :-)

I accidentally clicked on the marked as inappropiate button as I wanted to reply to you :-(.
I can imagine its scary to take the big step and start a boutique. You can also start with a website and then sell your stuff “on request”. You really should do something ;-)!

Would you please, please, please make this into pattern for big people? Because my 41 year old self wants this dress for me! And, why choose a sleeve style when both are so great?

What a great idea!! I think I’ll try a balloonsleeve dress for myself soon.

Your designs are so recognizable; they pop out from the Projects page. (BTW, how do you find time to sew when you have 4 kids?! I have two and only get free time if I send them to school and take a day off work!)

Thanks (I guess ;-). Well, I’m not always as productive as now….and I have a job that allows me to sew during the day. I’m a childminder – I welcome 4 small children into my home every day (my own 2 youngest are in kindergarten – my 2 eldest in school). When my daycare-children are taking their midday nap you can see me run for the Pfaff. Furthermore my sewingmachines are placed in our livingroom, which also makes it easier to steel some minutes behind them here and then. And then there is always the evenings….

Oops, I meant recognizable in a good way – well made, creative, unique! You know how you sometimes see a garment and can immediately identify the designer without looking at the info; that’s you! Sorry if that came out the wrong way ;)
