BurdaStyle Girl's Floral Dress

Added Jan 28, 2012

This is another version of BurdaStyle pattern # 148 from issue 06-2010 – again a lengthened size 110 but this time using a light cotton floral voile + fully lined in pale pink cotton voile. As I suppose you’d expect, the choice of fabric has made this into quite a different little dress – this one is soft and breezy and perhaps more comfortable than my earlier heavy cotton / linen version.

Having made this unlined and lined, I have to say the lined version was easier – much quicker than bias bound neck and arm holes! Since both the outer and lining fabrics with so thin I only applied the pleats on the neckline once the dress was lined – my pleats go through both layers at once. And as I was leaving out the angled vertical trim, for a bit of added interest I handstitched some daisy trim on the centre front neckline. If I were to make any changes to this pattern it would be to add some side pockets.

Thanks, I know what you mean – I so should have bought more of this fabric! The pattern was only sized up to about 6 year olds but it’s a pretty basic shift style.

Thanks – have to admit I’m a bit obsessed with this daisy trim! (Just put some on a grown up dress the other day too – but yet to post here).
