Pretty, chic top with flounce. It’s pretty easy to put together – but you have to know that when Burda writes “right sides facing up” – one of the last directions for attaching the two front pieces – what they mean is right sides facing out (i.e. sew wrong sides together). I’m so grateful that the Slapdash Sewist figured that one out for her knockout version (see http://theslapdashsewist.blogspot.com/2011/08/burda-07-2011-105-drapey-yellow-silk.html). Her review is incredibly comprehensive.
The only change I made to the pattern was to do a rolled hem on my serger for the flounces (the pattern will have you do a narrow zigzag stitch), and I didn’t use contrast fabric for the ‘narrow band’. I have more to say on my blog The Muslinette (themuslinette.wordpress.com).

Material Notes

poly charmeuse – cut on the straight grain, not on the bias (as the pattern wants you to do)
