Burda Zen summer dress

Added May 9, 2012

Dublin , Ireland

Reading the April issue of Burdastyle magazine, I immediately spotted this dress. I used NaniIo double knit fabric instead of jersey, as suggested in the instructions. I skipped the casing and used the elastic thread. I also attached the bodice wrap pieces in a way that I don’t need to wear a t-shirt underneath. For more information on the dress read on my blog Thewallinna and other creatures

Material Notes

Double knit NaniIro

Just finished the dress and the pattern is wonky. The waist does not lay right and The instructions were not available. However it is a cute dress. which I will wear, but Burda needs to start getting better about their downloadable patterns

Show us your dress! I can’t agree with you more about Burda instructions.

THANK YOU for sharing this wonderful project! AGAIN I did the same mistake! I have the magazine, but neither the shooting nor the sketch did not appeal me to think about the pattern. How arrogant. It took YOUR WONDERFUL dress to show me how that nice pattern can turn out! Great fabric choose – it flatters you perfectly!

Thanks for your kind words! I think that happens often: one pattern would looks very different with different fabric. By the way, I like your origami skirt! I am going to buy this pattern ;)

Thanks for sharing your project. I think it came out great. I’d been eyeing this pattern too since I have a jersey fabric for it. I’m going to read your blog to find out what you did different about the bodice because I felt the magazine’s version looked a bit “open” in the chest area.

n fact, I followed all the instructions from the magazine (I only omitted the casing). I think the reason the bodice does not flap is in the fabric. This particular double knit is sturdier than the jersey on the picture.
