Bombers Moon Ball

Minneapolis, Uni...

A week before the Fall Bombers Moon Ball, put on by the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force I decided that I wanted to make a dress for the event. This is Butterick 5281, which comes from 1946, so it was very period appropriate. I used a lovely floral rayon for the dress, and lined it in hot pink silk.

Thank you! It’s turned out to be one of my favorite dresses and it gets a lot of wear.

You look like my mother at that time! Must have been a fun event, the B&W photo is so unique…

It really was a fun event, I hope to make it an annual thing (with a new dress each year!) There were quite a few WWII planes on display, which really made for some great photos.

Thank you Irina, I did feel very 40s. My family says I look just like my grandma looked during that time :)
