Boat Race Dress--Yet another copy!

Added Jul 10, 2010

Portland, Oregon...

This is yet another dress I copied from Modcloth. It’s called the Boat Race Dress and I almost finished it in time to wear it to the Dragon boat races here in Portland, but not quite. Foiled!

The original is slightly different colors, of course, and the material they use is a bit more is a bit more of a lighter chiffon, but I like how mine turned out too. I even added the smocking in the back myself!

I combined the Anda top and the Marie bottom, changed a lot, and added a lot to make something of my very own.

Material Notes

The watermelon color is just plain cotton, and the blue is a polyester that was leftover from a previous skirt.

Garment Type
Beach, Casual, Mod
Cotton, Polyester

The trickiest part for me was getting the bust/side seams in the right place—I had to re-do that a few times, since I didn’t have a pattern. A bit difficult, but not impossible! Especially with a good seam ripper. :)

This is so cute! I want one of my own. :D Haha I love ModCloth clothes but I don’t think I’d have enough money to buy most of them anytime soon.
