My take on Burda 06/2016 #109 (Summer Shift Dress) which immediately caught my eye when it was published. The bright orange linen fabric was in my stash for at least 3 years waiting for its destiny. Miraculously, I found this beautiful embroidered eyelet fabric (a very costly item!!) that matched colours identically in a local fabric shop a couple of weeks ago.
Really no alterations to the pattern were made, although I did flat-fell all the seams to give the linen more structure. Sadly, I must say that the Burda instructions are very minimal (drawings, please?), especially in explaining how to complete the inserted collar and shoulder seams (a bit tricky, I think!).
I am happy though, the dress came out really well. Of course I will never be able to sit down in it because the linen wrinkles like crazy;-) Now summer can finally come (we have been waiting so long in Switzerland!!)

Dear Ellen, yes, it is loose and A-line, although the fitting around the collar and shoulders is “snug”. Big fan of all of your postings – you just always look effortlessy amazing in your makes!
