Pattern B5599
Who says sewing is relaxing? This dress got the better of me, I was all gung-ho when I started this dress and it didn’t take long for the frustration and all the swear words that could be heard all the way down the street.
This dress has about 20 pieces then you can double it with the lining and interfacing, phew!! Dress took longer than my usual few days to complete. I took photos of the front construction back in early January. (I put it in the UFO pile for a while) it gave me the damn shits!!
I know I should have made a muslin first but I was to god damn lazy to sew that many pieces and then do it all over again. Why didn’t I do that???
The side inset pieces were too big; the sides were puckering up (the fabric choice didn’t help either)
After all my woes, I do however like the end result.
This pattern has so much detail, pleats, pockets, contrast. Definitely intermediate/advance sewers..

Material Notes

Many a man hours
good ole leftover polkadot fabric
1mtr denim (stupid mistake using this fabric)
30cm Zipper

Your effort paid off, cos this dress looks gorgeous! This obviously required a bit of time in the “later” pile to be revisited when you were ready.. and what a fab result!

Hahaha I can relate with you there, I am doing a dress right at this moment and I’ve had to come onto the computer to calm my temper as my overlocker has chewed the same pattern piece 2 times now! I feel so angry with myself for rushing that I feel like marking my skill level to novice to teach myself a lesson hahahaa. Well I shouldn’t sew at 10pm after a day where I see my personal trainer! But your post has given me hope that I can beat this dress and not let it get the better of me! So you have supreme spirit my dear and I commend you! Dress looks fabulous too :)

Your dress looks great on you and if you hadn’t mentioned that you had trouble sewing it, we would be none the wiser. I really like it.

I’m not sure it’s worth the effort but it does look very good.
