Black out black out blind

South West, Unit...

The black out curtains in our twin’s nursery isn’t doing such a great job and with the days getting longer and mornings starting earlier, we needed to fix this. My husband was a little sceptical when I told him that I had an idea and would fix this (he has witnessed a few disastrous sewing project… erm, attempts), but I am rather pleased the way it turned out. I just might have to add some more Velcro to the window frame and the blind.

I spray painted night owls on a tree on the black out fabric and sewed colourful cotton with owls onto it for the day… there are pieces of velcro on top of the night side, so the blind is folded up once to cover half the window or twice (fastened with big buttons) to cover only the top.

I had bought the cotton fabric for another project that I never made, so it was finally put to good use. I also had the curtain liner at home as I was kidding myself that I would make curtains for the nursery once I went on maternity leave heavily pregnant with twins… I came to my good senses and ordered some online, thank goodness.
