Black and White Cape with Hood

I finished my this cape last week and planned on photographing it then but with all the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday madness I decided to photograph and debut it today! This is the first cape that I have ever made, and worn for even that matter. I really like it, and it is surprisingly warm, just like I am wearing a big wool fashionable blanket outside.

I would say this cape is more appropriate for wearing on a nice evening out instead of running all my daily errands. I used our cape with hood pattern and sewed it up in a nice textured wool paneling black and white. The contrast is lovely and I can’t wait to wear this cape to all my holiday occasions.

This project was for my Mash Up and you can see all the posts below and how I sewed it together step by step:

Hi Meg, I have been looking for a cape pattern for my daughter and shorlisted this one because it has a hood (her request). Something is confusing me about this pattern – the pattern sketch and photo shows a front placket that the zip is under, but all the member projects has it made with the zipper exposed. Is there a mistake in the pattern? Thanks, June

What size did you use? If I go by the burda measurements, the cape seems really big, and burda says I should cut out size 40. I’m using version 101A. Any help? Thanks!

Cute. Kind of reminds me of Thumper in Bambi.
