Description

I created this “The Monster’s Bride” costume from classic horror film – The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) for my friend. She wanted it look just like the Costume in the movie. It had to be classic horror. After studying many stills from the movie, I tried my best to create a one-piece dress for her and arm wrappings.

The dress is constructed of 100% cotton bleached white muslin.
The arm wrappings consist of solid white cotton gauze material ripped into 2” wide strips and inexpensive organza also ripped into 2” wide strips.
The model is wearing a solid white long sleeve t-shirt and white gloves under the arm wrappings. (This provided her more freedom of movement.)

This is actually the first costume I made without an actual pattern. I’m new to sewing clothes and have only made 1 dress prior to this, following a pattern of course. I guess my friend had a lot of faith in me, but that is what friends are for. To inspire us to create beyond what we think we can create. She was thrilled with the outcome as you can tell from our classic horror film style photo shoot.

So this is my Project… “The Monster’s Bride”

Happy Sewing… -
