Batwings with Buttons

Groningen, Nethe...

I drafted this pattern myself using Sewaholic’s Renfrew top as a sloper. Check my blog for more pics. And check it for a tutorial on how to turn the renfrew into a batwing shirt! The goal was a simple but interesting sweater that would go with lots of things in my wardrobe.

The skirt is self drafted as well, check my tutorial here!

Material Notes

knit jersey, fabric covered buttons

      With horizontal buttonholes, it works!

I love this! It’s sort of a modern-retro with the batwings and the buttons up the back. It’s great! You’ll be able to wear it with just about anything…

Thanks! I can’t wait to make more things that go with it.

Like the idea with the buttons in the back! That totally inspires me to do something similar. But I guess they can be uncomfortable when leaning back on a chair? ;)

I think it depends, I thought they would be too (after making them ofcourse :)). But my backbone sticks out a little bit, and the buttons sort of shift next to it so I actually don’t feel them. I’d still be sure not to use bigger buttons though :)
