Basic Dress Shirt - Black

Added Jul 6, 2010

San Diego, Calif...

This is a shirt I just finished. I was using a piece of remnant fabric I found but did not have enough to line the cuffs, so I just got creative. I actually like the way it turned out so I am going to line the yoke, cuffs and back of the buttons with a different fabric on the next one.

Material Notes

Cotton Stretch (Black) with Woven Stripes (Cuff lining was made of a cotton/poly scrap).

I used a light weight fusible interfacing for the collar, cuffs and the placket. The fusible kind made it so much easier.

Used small round frogs for cuffs.

Thank you all for the comments. I haven’t been sewing long and recently discovered this site and so far I love it all. I worked really hard on this shirt so thanks once again.

It is an ill attempt at embroidery, lol. My machine is not made to do it so it was more of an experiment. Overall it seemed to work but I might look into another option next time.
