bag for me

San Leandro, Cal...

i needed a new bag. i’ve been making do with two generic tote bags, very hard to manage. so i thought: a shoulder bag for most days, and then a cute backpack for when i’m bringing a lot of stuff to and from work. this is the shoulder bag. used j.caroline’s pattern and tutorial but altered the strap and the pocket size. it just needs a snap now—i bought them yesterday and will sew them in this weekend.

the fabrics make me happy! it’s been a while since i sewed a bag for myself, and tried a new bag pattern as well. i found the outer piece at thrifttown but i think it’s ikea, it’s a heavyweight cotton. the lining i bought as an end of year treat two years ago. the scrap for the pocket is one of the first fabrics i bought ever, at joanns years and years ago. when i look at the bag, it reminds me of how far i’ve come in my sewing. a good feeling.

Material Notes

twill/canvas, quilt weight cottons, zipper, two o-rings from . . . somewhere . . . they’re clover

Garment Type
