Baby’s Busy Book From Recycled Denim

Decatur, Illinoi...

With a niece’s baby shower coming up, the invitation said to bring a book instead of a card and sign it for everlasting memories. I’ve been working on designing and making a series of recycled denim accessories and hostess aprons and figured… Why couldn’t I make a cloth book out of denim? So here it is…

Each page has an inner lining of plastic (little ones like the crinkling sound) and fiberfill to give it shape. The pages were then sewn together and finished with a handle to tote around, with a velcro enclosure.

The pages were designed with hand/eye coordination in mind and there’s even a page with a replica of his beagle puppy that squeaks when you push his tummy. As you can see, the possibilities are endless!!

Awe, this is such a great idea! You did a great job on this. I would love to make one of these for my kids and really for every kid I know. Handmade gifts are the best. Thanks for the inspiration. I have been trying to figure out what to make for my cousin who just had a baby and I think this will be perfect. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

What an awesome way to use fabric scraps. I’m impressed by your creative ideas and I’m sure that this is a book that your niece will never give away.
