Singapore, Singa...

Inspired by the extravagant royal gowns of the Baroque age and the intricate columns of cathedrals and palaces, my design is very couture-like with the fan-out pleated collar balanced on a hidden mandarin collar, bishop sleeve and the intricately knife-pleated skirt.

Material Notes

Muslin (trial fabric)
Zipper (as opening for blouse and skirt).

Wilson (patient and artistic lecturer)

Jennifer (for her innovative ideas)

Group-mates and sewing buddies; Jacq and Janis (for accepting my theme)

Kaiming and Jessica (my very, very friendly seniors)

Zureena, Wardah and Mitch (for being there for me)

Last, but not least,

‘Marie Antoinette’ (for being a great muse)

Wow, that’s stunning! Excellent work with pleating. I can imagine that collar on a coat, too.

Wowee, just last night I was looking online for any kind of pattern for a Victorian style collar. Yours is INCREDIBLE. Don’t suppose you came across any more basic patterns when you were drafting yours did you? Oh I can’t wait to see your finished version later. It looks gorgeous as a muslin because you can just admire the magnificent structure of it!

Gorgeous!! Love to see couture work here and yours is amazing. Totally inspiring – even if it is way beyond my skill level :)

Thanks for the comments I guess the time taken for pleating was well worth it. I had a great experience doing this project.

To Nehmah, this is a trial piece on muslin, so we’re not required to add zipper; we’re only need to leave allowance for it.

Excellent project work. You surely spent hours on the pleating alone. I have one question…Who makes the zipper? Nehmah
