…I was asked by my daughter if it was possible to have flouncy tutu type skirts without using the usual itchy scratchy net or tulle as my granddaughter is only 7 months old!…….the results are these 4 and 5 layer voile skirts…I used left over voile from other projects ,with little chance that anyone will be any the wiser, however the end results are I think beautiful! and all it cost me was a little time and a few pounds for the ribbons and the elastic! some of the skirts have satin ribbon bows at the back others need no other embellishments as they have attached satin flowers or appliquéd ribbon..or gold embroidery …..I had no pattern so cut the material into strips that I either gatherd by basting or used a pleating method I had seen in a video on you tube ……..My daughter is needless to say thrilled that she has unique no itchy scratchy skirts for her baby……

I bet your grand daughter looks so adorable in the skirts! Great idea using the voile. It would be much softer on a baby skin. I want to make one for my brother in laws little one that is coming soon.
