Description

I know this is a bit boring…

With winter arriving early Downunder (snow already!) I’ve had to come up with some warm clothes for my children in a hurry. These are just a selection of the pairs of pull on pants I’ve made. They are based on Burda 9829 but I’ve taken a few liberties with them- like slimming the pattern down significantly (it was huge!) to make loose fitting leggings for my 1 year old and adding pockets in 2 different styles for my pocket obsessed 3 year old. Most of the pants pictured here were made with remnants from the remnant bin at my local Spotlight store. The pink, white and grey pairs cost 50c each. The slim fitting black pair were made entirely from leftover scraps from an earlier project. I didn’t even have to buy elastic as I had quite a lot in my stash. I don’t often bargain hunt for fabrics but I’m so pleased with these that I might just make a habit of it!

My sewing machine didn’t handle too many layers of fleece very well (visible on the white pair where I added patches over the knees in a feeble attempt to stave off knee stains) but I’ve just bought a much more advanced machine second hand which has a lot of embroidery stitches and I’m really looking forward to playing around with that over the next few weeks.

I love sewing for my daughter and niece (baby girl clothes are so much fun!) although not many of their dresses make it onto here. I haven’t really done much sewing for my son but I think I will after this, he was so excited to get some pants that Mummy sewed him :-)
