area 51 lab coat

Sydney, Australia

‘Area 51’ Lab Coat made from old US Army pup tent. Utilising the edges that contains the press studs I manipulated the pattern to retain these features. The centre front and front hem is one edge, the rear hem and storm flap another. The ‘blast’ collar and collar are from the edges too.

The lab coat becomes exotic with ‘fish tail’ panels on hem and cuffs. The cuffs are anatomically based- long sleeves that wrap around the hand offering back of hand protection from toxic drips.

Raw-edge-flat-felled seams and are raw edges are use as much as possible.

Way to recycle. And the lateral thinking. I adore the collar.

Slightly creepy. But, as usual, quite awesome. It makes me imagine someone with tousled black hair, and thick glasses. Or goggles maybe.

Welcome to the slaughter-house!:) I love the post-apocalyptic style of your garment, maybe the white tiles in the background give it a chilling ‘dimension’. Or is it because it is army material..hum… Very impressive.

Thanks. I wanted a ‘chilling’ feeling- slightly disturbing.
