Another maxi dress (based on Dots Invasion Dress by AnaJan)

Just about finished this in time for my holidays, but nearly didn’t make it!!
This was one project I haven’t enjoyed any part of (except maybe choosing the fabric which I do love and the pattern which is a lovely style).
It was a pain to cut out as the fabric kept slipping and shifting shapes so the parts didn’t match properly when it came to sewing together. The below bust area down to the waist was too tight a fit so I had to unpick it and insert the blue strips down the front panel.
It is REALLY badly finished to the eye of anyone who knows anything about sewing and there’s a good chance it will be thrown away after the holiday (or recycled) as it insults me to see how bad it is up close (lol) but I thought I ought to wear it a couple of times at least after the hassle of making it.
Am soooo glad I’m going on holiday though now, I don’t want to see another piece of fabric or a sewing machine for a few weeks!!

I’ll try making this again in the future I’m sure but with a less tricksy fabric!!
(It wouldn’t let me say which project it was based on when I tried uploading the project for some reason, I kept typing Dots Invasion Dress and it just kept saying “You need to say which project this is based on”. Not sure what I was doing wrong.)

So sorry to hear about your troubles with the slippery fabric. The dress looks nice though, but I understand the frustration. I hope you still wear it.

It’s actually grown on me and i always get compliments when I wear it so must have done something right :-)

Just reading through what i’d written in my description, i didn’t make it clear that the pattern was a good one to work with and a really lovely style. That certainly wasn’t at fault when it came to making the dress! thanks for posting it, and thanks for your comments too :-)

The dress looks lovely! I can relate to how you’re feeling about it though after the problems it caused you but if I were you I would still wear it because why let all your hard work go for nothing and in time you’ll forget its bad points if they’re not so obvious on the right side of the garment!!

awww, thanks. To be honest it does look fine from the outside if you don’t look too closely, and you’re right, no-one should see the inside except me :-)
