Last week I launched my fall makeover challenge where I am changing everything in my life wardrobe, hair, attitude one week at a time and I am blogging my way through it. This skirt is the first of many wardrobe revamps and additions. The pattern is a simplicity pencil skirt pattern that I decided to alter into a wiggle skirt. I took in 2 in. on each side from the low hip down to the hem (thanks to a tutorial I found on http://briana-arlene.blogspot.com/). The original pattern had a sash in the front that I enlarged by an inch on all sides and doubled interfaced to make the bow. I also added a lining and some couture finishes using my notes from my couturier 1 class that I completed this last spring at the Maryland Academy of Couture Arts. The lining is a little wrinkled but I was pressed to take these pix so I could post them. You can read my inspiration behind the skirt on my blog at http://latinamonoblog.blogger.com.

Material Notes

God blessed me with the fabric from a local value village. I think its a quilters cotton which is why I gave it a lining, it gives the skirt some more structure and stability.
