A Dress for a Wedding in Peru

I made this dress in about a week. right before leaving to Peru for a cousin’s wedding. I was in a sewing slow period for me and I just decided to go for it. Originally I just thought of doing a simple circle skirt with a nice blouse. But I choose a pattern and got to it. I used McCall’s 5972 View A.

Material Notes

I have a huge stash of silk fabric my mother bought me in Qatar. This red and black one is from China. I lined it with a cheap bed sheet. The pattern didn’t call for a lining in the skirt area but I lined it anyway. This silk was really staticy.

Very nice. You are lucky your mom lives there. They have a hue collection of fabrics and cheaper than USA too. I lived there for a few years with my husband and got a lot of fabrics there too.

      Thanks Mary!
I’m always afraid to sew with silk so the silk my mom buys me just keeps piling. I will someday use it.
