A Bit of Shawl Magic!

Romania, Romania

Before taking these pics I didn’t realize how amazing this almost classical shawl is! If I were in some chilly climate I would enjoy wearing something like this, wrapping it in different ways and feeling cozy, inventive and warm;)

I grew up among amazing triangular white shawls knitted by my grandmother – her fingers would breed, in the middle of winter an entire icy botanical garden – delicate flowers and leaves in neat rows as if they were there since the beginning of time – such real fine pieces of jewelry!

This shawl I started back in Romania and it was supposed to get back to Romania last Christmas:D hopefully it will get there before This Christmas:D With friends like me, who needs… hmmh… other friends?!

I came up with the pattern as I was knitting it, if you reproduce a pattern you know how it’s going to turn out, while if you do it as you go there’s always some surprise! The shape is not triangular but rather of a bitentacled octopus;) …waving bye bye at me with both tentacles… well, that’s ok, I’ll keep the 30C weather;)

wow! I am very envious of you knitters and crocheters…..somehow I never learnt either…I would love to be able to make a shawl such as this one it’d be entirely perfect for the San Francisco climate too.

crocheting is still (almost) a mistery for me too… I rarely used it coz I couln’t find the patience to deal with the basics… knitting on the other hand fascinates me coz once you start you can discover and improvise a lot on your own… if you start making something on a pencil-thick pair of knitting needles you finish in no time and it might start your appetite for knitting more! plus it’s so cozy to stay at home and knit in bed on weekends when it’s cold outside!

So cozy! All my shawls have been on the small side. I would love a larger one to wrap up in. This is very nice.
