this is my first project, inspired by maryy’s poisonous pencil case. I am a beginner so it’d be really swell if some of you guys could help me out a bit (;

    Also, you can go to http://sewing.patternreview.com/ and get some cool tips as well. Your project is great for a beginner. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been sewing for a while and have not tried the purses likw that because I’m afraid I’m really going to goof something up! Like putting in the zip. The button holes are a work that gradually grows. Stay with it, your on the right path.

    Hey, not bad for a first project! Good use of patterned fabric, really like the buttons and buttonholes are a real pain to get right, so don’t beat yourself up. Check out some of the really great tutorials on the site to learn about specific things you want to try next (click on learning), and find out how other users make their projects (one of my favourites: http://www.momfetti.com/2009/11/girl-gift-for-teens-and-tweens.html). YouTube is also a fabulous source of how-tos, search for anything and you’ll find someone has uploaded a demonstration.

    So just keep trying, and remember that people who have been sewing for a long time botch projects! It’s how you learn, isn’t it…
