Description

This pattern has the most epic sleeves ever! I have the magazine but never paid attention to it, but when I was looking for a blouse pattern with 80’s puff sleeves I found it in google images and I thought "why did I miss this!”
I decided to sewed it with a sheer fabric, what made me realize that I NEED to practice French seams a lot more.
I made some alterations to the neckline, it was so tight that my head couldn’t get in. I cut 2 cm deeper the neck split and lower 0.5 cm the neckline.
The original pattern doesn’t have seam allowances at the hem, the bottom of the sleeves and the neckline, it’s finished with overlock, I omitted that and did it the traditional way:
1.5 cm for the neck and finished it with a bias tape.
I shortened 6 cm the blouse, so I cut 3 cm and took the other 3 for the hem.
The sleeves are 2.5 cm longer than normal, so I left that extra for the hem.
When I tried on, the sleeves were enormous on me, all the extra fabric that looks beautiful in the shoulders, looked completely a mess at the bottom, so I sewed an elastic band that gathered all that fabric at my wrists.
Finally I hand sewed two lace appliques in the chest to make it more retro (it took me over two hours).
I totally love this pattern, it’s an easy one, it’s just that I made more difficult, but the result was worth it!

This is cool , its reminding me of an old burda pattern that I have been meaning to make for years that has a high ruffle neck . I used to have a similar top at high school . You definitely pull of the 80s style .
