One Piece Swimsuit with Halter Top – Kombi Knits by Beverley Sharp #309d 1979

This should be my final bathing suit I’m making now, thank goodness, well until another great burdastyle pattern comes along that it is lol. The lattice is made of thin tubes that simply cross over each other (- in retrospect maybe I should have twisted them around each other, as I’ve recently noted in online swimsuits, to give an even pulling tension), and sewn down at the edges. The front consists of side panels and princess seams and its self-lined. This modern fabric I got from the local sewing-store remnants bin is very stretchy, and I sewed it with a zig zag stitch but its not the tidiest lol, plus the edges are a little wavy lol. I like the cut of this pattern including the leg line as well as the angled back, and especially the bias bound edging. It fits comfortably and stays in place, but it stretched too much around all the opening edges when I tested it in the water. It feels light to wear, and it dries at a normal rate but not quickly. Don’t mind me, I’m just sticking my butt out doing an impression of a high-fashion-model, but its not working lolz. Hahaha. Location: Milford Beach

Material Notes

lightweight snake print jersey (4-way stretch), elastic underwear lace, bra hook and eye fastener

Garment Type
Beach, Bohemian, Vintage

you have the most gorgeous lycra fabrics for all these swimwears you’ve been making, and this one looks absolutely perfect on you! love the cross-lace detail at the front. ah, if it stretches too much in the water, then just wear it to sunbathe, right? ;)

Thanking you much for that Elpida! I tell ya now I’m still trying to get them right lol, swimwear boy its been challenging, the insides look a bit rough on some of mine too lol. I hear Greece is gorgeous and warm. And sadly no we do have winter in nz, in fact I was laughing about the unexpected freezing temperature we had two nites ago, i had to get out the old electric blanket lol! Xx
