I had a remade apron ( from an old dress ) that had that style of pockets – then I quizzed friends about the sash – as opposed to a belt. The bolero top was inspired by images from the internet.

The deputy editor of Sew Magazine very kindly sent me the back copy of the magazine that featured the pattern and I have been waiting for the correct time to make it. I had to alter the pattern slightly – I raised the shoulders and put darts in the neckline !! ( never done that before ! ) I have however made the alterations on the tissue pattern – and reduced the width of the neckline only — for future use . It also has a straight skirt option …..

Thank you so much for the kind comments. I am going to wear the outfit especially for a St. George’s Day evening dance where we have to wear red and white.

Yes it’s a great pattern, but I made a few alterations to achieve a good fit ( with the help of friends ). It also has the option of having a fitted skirt mmm……..

Thank you for the comments. With help from the Burda community I found images that helped me to design the bolero top. It is self -lined and is slightly stiffened with a lightweight iron on Vilene to help prevent creasing.
