I made this dress for my friend. The fabric is cotton. I put the zipper in the back to make it more comfortable, and the buttons to make it more fun. the skirt is 3 quarters of a full circle. instead of hemming the dress I used bias tape on the edges.

I love how this skirt drapes. I’m glad to see that the dress pattern works with a fuller skirt than the original.

Love the button detail! Lovely choice of fabric also This pattern looks so good! One tip for the circle skirt hemming: Fold once 0.5 cm and stich along the edge of the fold. Cut away excess fabric towards raw edge. Fold the hem again, and stich again following the previous stitching. This makes a very neat hem for circle skirts!

Wow! Thanks for this tip. I’m always flummoxed by hems on full skirts, but I absolutely love full skirts.

I like your version with the buttons in the back, and the colour, too! Nice retro dress!

Curved hems can be hell, and it actually wasn’t that easy with the biastape either …
