Description

I always feel like I never have shoes I like that I want to wear so when I was out thrifting this morning I tried to find a pair that I could do something fun to. I found these simple pumps for only $1.50 so I knew I had to have them! Once I started painting them I remembered a pair I bought 2 years ago that I never wear because they are the most hideous pink that has picked up all the dirt possible in 2 wears and they are slightly too big so they slip off. I pulled them out too and got to work.

I painted both pairs black first, I had to do 2 coats to make sure it was evenly covered.

Once the paint was most of the way dry I glued on some blue, glittery shapes I had in my craft bag onto the first pair. The shapes are foam so I used E-6000 glue to make sure they stuck for good.

For the second pair I glued on 3 small pom poms to the toe and added elastic to the ankle. I painted the E-6000 onto 1/4 of the edge of the elastic then used clothespins to hold it in place for about an hour.

Material Notes

Old shoes, Jacquard fabric paint in Black, E-6000 super glue, glitter covered foam shapes (you could also use sequins, costume gems, broken CDs, etc), pom poms, elastic, clothespins to hold large or heavy items in place while drying
